Marking of the packaging and rules governing the use of the Green Dot symbol.
The product packaging placed on the national market by the companies participating in the SIG managed by ECOEMBES shall be identified with the Green Dot symbol, which guarantees that the company is in compliance with the packaging Law.
The marking must be clearly visible and easily legible, and must be appropriately resistant, even when the packaging is open.
The Green Dot must at least be placed on the packaging corresponding to the minimum sales unit, that is to say, on the packaging that the consumer may acquire as a product on the shelf.
The sales units which can be split must each be identified by means of the Green Dot (Example Pack of 6 tins of refreshments, which can be acquired as units). If the sales unit is completely indivisible, the packager may simply identify the box containing these units (Example Box of ten tea bags; Pack of three cans of tuna in oil).
- It cannot be modified under any circumstances.
- It must be printed in its entirety.
- Its proportions and chromatic unity must be respected.
- It cannot be completed with any other graphic element or text.
- It cannot be added to or altered without prior written authorization from ECOEMBES, by means of an agreement formalized in writing.
Presentation
The symbol is a circle that contains two linked arrows following a vertical axis. The upper arrow must point to the right and will be of a dark green colour. The lower arrow, on the other hand, must point to the left and must be of a light green colour. Nevertheless, in order to avoid additional packaging costs, one is allowed to adapt the symbol to the colours used in the packaging.
