The efficient management of packaging waste from the products which we normally consume in our homes requires the collaboration and coordination of different agents who participate in the Integrated Management System (SIG) for packaging and packaging waste.

In this section, we will become familiarized with the different actions performed by the agents involved in the second half of the packaging cycle:

Packaging collection. In order to make it possible to collect the household packaging waste that all of us generate every day, Ecoembes maintains a close relationship with the public administrations, both regional and local. This collaboration is undertaken through the signing of agreements to introduce the selective collection (yellow and blue bin), to finance the extra cost which this entails for Local Entities, and also to disseminate information to the public in order to promote the correct separation of waste and its deposit in each bin.

Packaging recycling and recovery. Once we have deposited our packaging in the appropriate bin, the Local Entities themselves, by means of the recovery agents, collect and transport the packaging waste to sorting plants and subsequently to the recycling agents, who will transform the packaging materials into new raw material, thus closing the packaging cycle, giving new life to the materials and avoiding their ending up in a useless pile, which would have a negative ecological impact on dumps.
