Commitment to the Envionment

The commitment to the Environment was one of the primary motivations for the creation of Ecoembes, which was the initiative adopted by economic agents in order to confront environmental issues related to the consumption of packaged products.

Conscious of the environmental contribution which results from the performance of its activity as the managing entity for an Integrated Management System for packaging and packaging wastes, Ecoembes has introduced an Environmental Management System based on Standard UNE-EN ISO 14001:2004. This standard as a reference for both the company's internal management as well as in respect of its relations with other SIG agents (Member Companies, Raw Materials Manufacturers, Recyclers, Public Administrations and Consumers).

One of the Ecoembes Directorate’s top priorities is to undertake its activity at a high level of productivity, while maintaining total management transparency.

With this aim in mind, the Ecoembes process consists of the 'awarding of materials originating in plants where light packaging is selected to recoverers / recyclers, for their treatment in accordance with quality standard UNE_EN_ISO 9001:2008.

In 2006, the process consisting of the ‘management of the recovery of packaging and packaging wastes from separate collection’ was incorporated into the certification. In this manner, the separate collection with an origin different from that of the selective collection of domestic packaging of a municipal nature must comply with ISO standard 9001:2008 throughout all phases of the process: signing of contracts, agreements with involved agents, control and monitoring, and invoicing.
